No More Meat Packs.
Why? Well, it seems like nobody wants good meat in their meat packages
and sales on this is flat. We used to do 5 to 8 meat packs per week and
now we do 1 to 2 a month.
So, the people have spoken.
I need the room in my freezer for things that sell and move.
Things They Are A Changin'
Over the 40 years Floyds has been in business, we have tweaked and
adjusted, ducked and dodged, added things and stopped things to keep
ahead of the ever changing landscape of small business.
Whether its keeping ahead of Wal Mart, who is constantly sticking their
nose into our business, dealing with new big box grocery chains that have
come into town or things just not selling anymore, we have changed along
with the times over the last 40 years.
Well, it seems it is time for yet ANOTHER change.
I am SERIOUSLY thinking about getting OUT of the meat business.
I will continue selling seafood, Cajun groceries, sausages, fish, crab,
crawfish and all of that.
Meat (steaks, filet mignon, etc.) just is not selling.
I've noticed a drastic downturn in sales over the last year and a half,
so this is nothing sudden.
I'm guessing people just don't want good quality meat anymore, they
want junk out of these big box, one stop 24 hour mega stores and only
come to Floyd's when they want something special or just for the holidays
and special occasions.
I have done a lot to dodge this decision: cut down on the amount of
meat I cut.
Lowered my prices.
Run sales and specials.
But I still put more meat in the freezer than I'm putting out the door.
And if it doesn't sell at a discount out of the freezer, know what I do?
Grind it into hamburger.
Fourteen dollar per pound steak ground into hamburger that sells for way,
So, people, you are going to get your wish.
I will still make rib roasts at Thanksgiving,Christmas and New Years.
I will still make filet mignons for the same holidays.
And I will make and cut filets for anyone who orders them IN QUANTITY
I will be replacing my meat with specialty items like stuffed bell peppers,
stuffed mushrooms, stuffed potatoes, stuffed jalapenos, shrimp kabobs,
vegetable kabobs and stuffed pork chops.
I hate to make a decision like this but it needs to happen.
Changing gears in this business is what we do to stay ahead
It's time to hit a higher gear and leave the meat behind.

Due to Larry's quickly failing health, I have decided to cut Tuesdays out of the business schedule for the summer and into early fall so I can spend some quality time with him.
He has been diagnosed with some type of degenerative brain disease that is effecting his motor skills, memory and speech. He has begun having seizures on an almost daily basis.
But this very proud man is not going down without a fight and we welcome all prayers and well wishes as we regard our customers like family.
I appreciate your understanding in this matter and apologize for any inconvienence it may cause our wonderful customer family.

Held in Stuttgart on Thanksgiving weekend and attended by people from all over
the country, this annual event was won for the SECOND time by Heather and Kris.
They have competed since 2011 with their team, The Cavers. They won in 2012 and again in 2014.
Heather and Kris buy all their andouille sausage and gumbo goodies from Floyds and she thinks that is part of her winning mojo and magic. The recipe is 50% andouille sausage and 50% Lonoke duck and 100% a winner.

Floyd's offers good quality stockpots with basket and lid for sale in 2 sizes: 34 quart and 60 Quart. The 34 quart size will cook 17 pounds of crawfish; the 60 quart size will cook 30 pounds.
These are heavy duty, well made aluminum pots, not some Big Box store junky stuff you'll burn a hole through after 2 or 3 uses.
We also have medium and heavy-duty burner stands for sale.
